Competition Obedience

This obedience class is for people and dogs who aspire to compete at dog shows in Obedience.
Some previous training is required...basic heeling, sit, down, stay, and come. We'll work on the rest in class!

Competition Rally Classes

Rally is a like an obstacle course of obedience 'doodling' games. Doodling is how dog and handler teams prepare for competition obedience, and it's FUN!
In Rally (unlike competition obedience), handlers are encouraged to talk to their dog as much as they want. Every course is different, dogs love it, and rally skills can be carried on into obedience training.
There are three levels of rally, Novice, Advanced, and Excellent. Novice is done completely on-lead. Advanced and Excellent are performed off-lead and there are jumps included in the courses.
The Introduction to Rally Class will include familiarization with the Novice signs, basic training techniques, and attention training. Classes will be held in the downstairs training room at the Berkshire Humane Society. Come make some new friends and have fun with your dog!

Canine Good Citizen Classes

The Canine Good Citizen certification program was developed to demonstrate dogs' good manners in public and their people as responsible pet owners.
CGC classes are often the starting place for advanced training such as obedience, rally, and other performance activities. Basic training techniques and relationship building are the core goals of the class. And once you and your dog realize the joy of working together, there is no end to the fun you can have!
At the end of this session, dog and handler teams will be given the opportunity to put their hard work to the test...a practical test for certification!!! Mixed breeds welcome!!! Classes will be held in the downstairs training room.Come make some new friends and have fun with your dog!
